People often wonder why the hat was shaped the way it was.  Here is what is believed by the expert archers that know…the hat was shaped like this in order that when a bow is at full-draw, the hat would not interfere.  The shape that it swooped back to let the rain run off the back as not to impede the bow shooters site any more than it would have under inclement conditions.  Great bow shooters throughout history have always used care in what they wore and how it best accentuated his woodland outfit…the Robin Hood hat was just another way of helping him with his craft.

There was a time in my life where I fantasized of my merry men and I running through the forests.  Where I grew up, I am sure that it was no different where Little John, Robin and Marian along with “The Tuckster“  grew up…woods as far as a boy could run!  My hand-made bows and arrows were nearly always more than a match for the game I took on those days in the woods.  My Dad and Mom were always glad to see me coming as our dinner was always greatly supplemented by what I had in my game bag.  I imagine that Mr. and Mrs Hood felt the same way!
